Condition of the Month: Allergies Have you noticed a lot of people sneezing, sniffling and generally congested lately? It is that time of year so many people dread. Not because of the warm, beautiful days… but because there is definitely something in the air that irritates the air passages. It is various types of pollen, sometimes molds, dust, dander and grasses. It varies from year to year as to the timing, severity and length of the “attack”. This is because the arrival of the season caries from year to year as well as variances in the reproductive life of the plants, etc. So, what is there to do? Chiropractic helps the immune system strengthen to withstand these attacks. For some people the offending substance is neutralized by a stronger immune system. Sometimes it can at least lessen the severity. The amount of emotional or physical stress also determines how well we deal with the offender. Understand that our allergies are our immune systems overreacting to a normal substance. So, if you are suffering other health problems, have a personal life crisis or do not take care of your overall health, you may suffer more than normal or at another time in your life. Consistent chiropractic care can help you at this time of year, but you also need to make sure you get adequate rest, nutritional balance, water intake and exercise. We do have nutritional supplements that can aid you at this time of year that work well with your allergy symptoms. They work by supporting your immune system, instead of trying to trick it.
